Author Guidelines

Author Responsibilities:  JAR will be made available throughout the world via on-line publication. With this, authors must ensure that their work meets the requirements as covering originality, authorship, author responsibilities.

Author/Employer Rights and Ownership: Author(s) who write for an employer should note that the copyright in work belongs to his/her employer as the one who commissioned his/her work. Commissioned researches or researches funded by other people/agencies other than the author may have similar ownership issue. There is, therefore, a need to review the contract between the author and his/her employer/funder to avoid ownership issues. In the case submitted articles for the JAR, it is assumed that when the author signed the copyright form, he/she/they is/are authorized to do so by your employer/funder and that consent to transfer the copyright, and other terms and conditions listed in the forms. If such consent and authorization have not been given to the author, an authorized representative of his/her employer/funder should sign the forms as the Author.

JAR Copyright Ownership: To protect the interest of JAR, its authors, and their employers/funders shall own the copyrights of all copyrightable material including the individual contributions contained therein to facilitate the appropriate reuse of the said material by others.

To enable the Publisher to protect the copyright of the journal, authors must sign copyright form which will be sent to the author before the publication of the article. All submitted manuscripts must be accompanied by a copyright form signed by all authors that the article is original, is not under consideration by another journal, has not previously been published elsewhere and its content has not been anticipated by any previous publication.

Aim and Scope:   The Journal of Academic Research (JAR) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Samar State University (SSU). JAR will cater researches written by educators and students alike especially those but not limited to the higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines and other parts of the world. JAR articles are subjected to two-tier evaluation/review process; the first level is the internal review aimed at improving the paper quality before it is sent to a double-blind expert’s external review.

The Journal purpose is to serve as a platform where researches in the academia both by educators and students are shared for the purpose of enhancing theoretical and empirical researches across all disciplines. JAR encourages submission of out-of-the.-box articles or novel papers and helpful in improving various fields of practice. Theory-based and empirical researches, literature reviews, case studies, feasibility studies and the likes are all welcomed.

Topic Areas: JAR subject areas are grouped into four themes; (1) Culture and Social Issues; (2) Industry, Engineering, Science, and Technology; (3) Education and Management; (4) Agriculture, Fisheries, and Environment. Topics for every theme are as follows;

Criteria for acceptance: In accepting work for publication, the editors and reviewers give special weight to readability and interest value for a wide readership. All papers are reviewed by at least two expert referees as well as an editor. The Editors' decision is final.

Criteria for withdrawal: JAR management has to respect the reviewers time. So, authors are advised to make the decision of withdrawal within five days of submission for any reason. JAR management will mark as rejected paper if you withdraw after five days because review process begins within five days. Once a paper is updated to a status page, it will not be removed even the paper is withdrawn after five days.

Online and Print Publication: There are four issues every year covering the five themes listed under Topic Areas. An article will be published online in one of the issues appropriate for the paper as it is recommended by the Editorial Board. At the end of the year, a printed form of the four issues may be published per request.

Format: The authors are suggested to use the format which is available here for download.

Timetable of the review process: Any communication sent to authors should get the response within five days otherwise submitted manuscript will be moved to reject to publication status due to no communication from an author. The Editors' decision is final. All papers should be submitted in Journal format as Windows Word document. PDF format will not be accepted.

The length of review process depends on the reviewers. The shortest review process for almost perfect journal paper is one month. Other paper may reach for one year but in no case will it be more than 1.5 years.
